There was a crowd of
Small children
Waiting at a bus stop
After a circus show. yup
Each child was holding a balloon.
String of a red balloon
Slipped through the fingers of
A four- year old and his face
Curled up in grief at the loss.
Instantly the child beside him
Caught his eye, extended his fist -
And released his own balloon.
Within seconds, a score of balloons
Were soaring skywards and
The four year old - tears
Still glistening on his cheeks -
Laughed with the others at the spectacle.
It’s easy to lend money,
But it is important to lend
One’s sensitivity
They don’t need any sympathy or words of advice
They merely seek our empathy - a nod of our eyes
Sympathy – I understand how you feel
Empathy – I feel how you feel
Take care all of you
