Cynthia Nawalu's Page

My name is Cynthia. I am a Poet who writes when I am in pain or in love. My deepest thoughts go into my work and I am always striving to better myself through my work. I stick to romance and erotic poems. I have always been a romantic. I am currently writing a poem book as well as my life’s story. I have a rich heritage. My grandmother on my father’s side was full Native Cherokee; my grandfather on my mother’s side was full German. There is also African, Native Cree and Navajo running through my veins. So I am considered of mixed race. Growing up in the 50's and 60's was challenging.

The violin has always been a part of my soul. I am a Violinist. I started playing at the age of seven. My first recital was performed at the age of nine. I played for a wedding when I was twelve, and was in the school orchestra in high school. I took private lessons for years and was able to teach some students beginning violin in my high school. I also played for a string quartet while in my teens all over my hometown. Life happened and after I went to college, got married, and raised four children, I was able to turn back to my music. My husband and I played for social events in California. He was a music teacher and a composer and played many instruments. He played the guitar and I played my electric violin. That marriage was left back in California and now I play for those who wish to hear the beautiful sound of music in Atlanta Georgia.

My photography took root when I was 5 years old. My mother gave me a brownie box camera. The images were up side down. I took Photography at the Academy of Arts Photography College in San Francisco. I learned darkroom techniques; manipulate printing results, do black and white developing and much more. I had my own darkroom at home and took pictures for clients at various social events. Now I do most of my photography with my digital Nikon. I love it because the pictures are clear and precise. I have several programs on my compute to enhance the colors or the concept of a photo.

I don't remember when I didn't sing. I remember singing while swing on my swing set in the back yard. I sang at church, I also sang at talent shows around town. I was in a jazz choir for the Performing Arts School in California. We performed at all of the music festivals in the bay area. I had quite a few soloist parts. Now I sing karaoke or for special friends who need a soloist for a wedding or a funeral.

I can make stained glass objects and do silk-screening. I took classes in both of these trades. I belonged to the Artist Guild also in California.
